You can become a volunteer mediator if you are able to deliver professional, high-quality mediation services to SLO County residents in conflict. Volunteer mediators must be certified through our Conflict Resolution and Mediation Skills Training program, or a comparable course. To help make San Luis Obispo a more peaceful community, contact Creative Mediation for information about becoming a volunteer.

Senior Peer Counseling
You can become a Senior Peer Counselor if you are 55 or older and can visit a senior one hour per week. The initial in-depth volunteer training is free and there are weekly supervision meetings that help counselors build skills and confidence. Contact the Senior Peer Counseling office for more information about becoming a volunteer.

You can become a Caring Caller if you agree to make a one hour visit per week to your senior friend. New volunteers must also attend a brief training and orientation. To make a positive difference in the life of a senior, contact the Caring Callers office for more information about becoming a volunteer. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to become Caring Callers.

You can become a Good Neighbor volunteer if you are able to assist in basic needs for seniors or adults with disabilities. Services may include; Light Housework, Yard Work, Minor Home Repair, Meal Preparation, Transportation, and Shopping/Errands. All volunteers must complete our screening process and those providing transportation must be at least 21 years of age and have possessed a valid driver’s license for 5 years. We encourage families to volunteer together and from time to time we can arrange group projects for your colleagues or faith community.
